Indigenous Training & Employment

The objective of the Indigenous Employment Project (IEP) is to increase Indigenous Australians employment outcomes and participation in economic activities, contributing to the Australian Government's commitment to halving the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous employment outcomes within a decade.

AIEMnet will help ‘open doors’ to training and industry for 50 indigenous people in the Wide Bay region, primarily in the engineering and manufacturing sectors due to the huge expansion of the gas and mining industries in Queensland.  Gaining employment for participants over a two year period will be the major focus of this project.  

Fraser Coast TESS a registered training organisation will deliver the following industry specific pre-vocation training services from their training premises at Rocky Street, Maryborough.

- Cert II in Engineering incorporating Literacy & Numeracy 
   skill development,

- Job preparation training–including resume preparation and
  interviewing skills

This will be a rotational training program schedule commencing 30th January 2012, 2nd July 2012
and 28th January 2013, (25hrs per week over an approx 26 week period). Open/rolling enrolments
will be accepted, depending on the participant’s existing skills, knowledge and personal situation as
assessed by TESS.
